Brixton Kash Mulcock has arrived! 1/5/2011

My baby boy has finally arrived! After a long time patiently waiting for his debut, I went into labor on Wednesday January 5th 2011! It started out as a normal day doing the daily routine of waking up and getting ready for the day! Around 10:30 am I went in to take a shower and noticed I was bleeding pretty bad and immediately knew this was it! I waited it out just to see if the bleeding would stop but then the contractions hit! At first they were not too intense and far apart which was normal to what I had been having a week prior. After going to lunch with Nate's mom and dad at the one and only Costa Vida the contractions were getting worse. We went back to his parents house and when I noticed the bleeding hadn't stopped I decided it was time to go! Nate his mom and I rushed down to the hospital. By this time it was 2pm. When they checked me I was dilated to a 4 almost 5 and contractions had picked up to every 2 minutes! I knew right away he was coming that day!! We were finally admitted and things started progressing! I dilated to a 7 in no time! Then I hit a little bump in the road and Brixton had decided to turn his little body so he was face up instead of face down which caused my contractions to stop! Dr Huish got me started on potossin to speed things up and hopefully he would turn. I slowly progressed to an 8 and then to a 9. Because things weren't going as fast as they were we knew he hadn't turned. So Dr Huish had to come in and flip him so things could move along... within no time of him flipping him I was at a 10 and ready to push! After 7 minutes of pushing and almost 6 hours in labor Brixton Kash Mulcock was born! He arrived at 7:47 pm weighing 6lbs 13oz 19 3/4 in long! Pretty great size for being 36 weeks! He was doing very well and only had low blood sugar right after being born but it quickly went up after a good feeding! :) Blonde little hair and his mommas nose and his daddy's cheeks! :) Such a precious sweet spirit! I decided to breastfeed which is totally new to me. We had a little trouble in the beginning but he is doing a lot better with it now! After 36 hours of being born Brixton came down w jondus. They say its usual in babies who are born early. Because of this though he had to be taken from the room and put in the special care nursery. :( Sadly he won't be coming home with us but he is a fighter already and will be better in no time. They are talking about letting me nest here since I have to be discharged today. That way I can still be down here for him and not feel so down about being away from him. I hope and pray we get to do that! I am so thankful he is finally here and everything went great! He is a sweet little guy straight from heaven and I couldn't ask for anything more perfect! Hayden absolutely loves him already! He is kinda scared to hold him by himself right now but is definitely a proud big brother!!! Nate is already the worlds best dad! He is so proud of his little boy and loves him to death! He is wanting to change his diapers and feed him ( even though he can't really help w that part yet) :( but he is so careful and sweet with him and I love watching their bond already! I can't wait to take the little guy home and start the real journey! Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to! :) Thanks to all the family and friends who have given love and support! We really do appreciate every minute of it and couldn't do it with out you guys! :)

  1. Thanks for sharing your birth story! Sounds like it went perfectly. :) How wonderful the only problem he has is jaundice. I hope he overcomes it quickly!! And I think it's awesome you are nursing. Colostrum is so extremely good for new babies!! There may be some rough patches with nursing, but it's so worth it. :) Good luck! Can't wait to meet him!!
